Paint Choices For Stucco
We always recommend using high quality paints, especially for exterior painting projects. Stucco surfaces benefit from the increased durability and beautiful look of a superior paint.
We prefer products from Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin-Moore for our painting projects, but will also use any product our clients prefer. For new stucco, we recommend an elastomeric paint.
STUCCO Crack REPAIR
Gaps and cracks in stucco should always be addressed before painting. Smaller cracks can be filled with elastomeric caulking, while larger cracks or areas with missing stucco need to have more extensive repair and texture work done. Not addressing these will lead to future issues and early paint failure.
KEEP STUCCO DRY
Chronic dampness is a major cause of stucco damage, so make sure when you are watering your landscaping that the water isn’t repeatedly hitting the same parts of the house. Better yet, keep the water from hitting the house at all. Stucco can last for decades when properly installed and maintained.
