Popular Home Paint Colors for 2018
Color affects mood. And since you spend more time looking at the inside of your home than the outside, so we’ll start these five interior colors:
1. HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams: Honeycomb HGSW2133
Yellow radiates warmth and brightness. Simple as that. And this golden yellow hue inspires optimism while infusing energy into a space. This color has real pop, so use an eggshell or satin finish for walls.
2. Sherwin-Williams: Oceanside SW6496
Sherwin-Williams describes this color as an opulent and mysterious green-blue hue. Its warmth and brightness are reminiscent of all things oceanside. This is a powerful color so you may want to start with a door or an accent wall.
3. Clark+Kensington: River Rapids 29B-3
There’s something very soothing and relaxing about seafoam green. And this color brings a certain texture and simplicity to a room that seems to be lacking these days. You could paint a smaller room this color, or use it as an accent with more classic colors.
4. Glidden: Deep Onyx 00NN 07/000
Shifting from oceanic blues, yellows, and greens, this paint is truly black with not even a whisper of the blue tones so often found in black paint. It’s probably best to use as an accent color with something lighter for contrast.
5. Benjamin Moore: Caliente AF-290
Some like it hot. And if you’re looking for a color that screams confidence, strength, and vitality, this is it. This bold red color can be overwhelming though, so choose your sheen carefully. Maybe start with an accent wall in a matte finish, and explore from there.
Once you’ve settled on some new interior shades, consider the following five exterior paint colors that are trending in 2018:
1. Valspar: Coventry Blue 4005-5C
Valspar recommends a satin finish for their Coventry Blue because it’s such a soft and warm color. This blue is beautifully accented by white, as well as shades of darker blue.
2. Clark+Kensington: Adobe Hut N-C3
Adobe Hut is in the beige and grey families – more affectionately known as the “greige” family. Because both of these colors are reflected in this paint color, it allows for a wider choice of accent colors for doors and garages.
3. Glidden: Country Cream 40YY 72/164
Country Cream leans quite a bit toward yellow, without being loud or cloying. It accents well with white and then perhaps a contrasting color for the door.
4. Benjamin Moore: Distant Gray OC-68
Gray is about as neutral as you can get. Even so, some grays are lighter and cooler than others. And Distant Gray isn’t too far off from white. The coolness of this grey is complemented by shades of blue.
5. Sherwin-Williams: Neutral Ground SW 7568
Just as the name implies, this shade is an easygoing neutral beige tone that works well as a foundation for other colors. A bright white would provide contrast, but with a color as neutral as this, you can be playful here.
